(傳教大師。三段一木而造釋迦彌陀藥師三佛像。更以其餘材。刻多聞大黒二天。大師一禮誦佛亦低頭。其禮讚文曰)。
(Dengyō Daishi [Saichō] [cut] a single log into three segments, and shaped three Buddha-statues of Śākyamuni, Amitābha, and Bhaiṣajyaguru. He then took the leftover wood and carved the two devas Vaiśravaṇa (i.e. Bishamonten), and Mahākāla (i.e. Daikokuten). [When] the Great Master then bowed and recited [a verse in praise], the Buddhas also lowered their heads! This verse of praise [while they all] prostrated, reads [as follows]):
周遍法界。大日如來。妙法教主。亦名釋迦。大悲有餘。亦住西方極樂世界。名阿彌陀。像法轉時。以大方便。稱號藥師瑠璃光佛。三世利益。同體慈悲。
O Mahāvairocana Tathāgata who Pervades the Dharmadhātu; the Expounder of the Sublime Dharma [Flower Sūtra], who is also named Śākyamuni!
O [Buddha of] Unexhaustible Compassion who resides in the Western World of Utmost Bliss, who is named Amitābha!
O Transmitter of Great Skilful Means [during] the Age of the Semblance-Dharma, who is addressed as Bhaiṣajyaguru Vaiḍūrya-prabhāṣa Buddha!
You [all] benefit [beings of] the three times with the same essence of Compassion!
